Stefanie’s musical journey started in 2004 when she bought her first pair of turntables and fell in love with scratching. In 2006, she began using Ableton to record and edit mixes. Her interest in songwriting blossomed after picking up a bass guitar in 2008, and eventually she began producing original music. When Push was released, Stefanie immediately recognized its potential for composition and performance, and she was inspired to learn finger drumming. Her live performances are the convergence of her many musical passions.

Stefanie also has an extensive background in education and music scholarship. A pioneer in the field of hip hop studies, she earned a Master’s degree in cultural studies and taught the very first hip hop course at Florida State University in 1999. She's a former college and high school English teacher, and worked for over a decade as a writer, curriculum designer and trainer for technology companies in the Bay Area.

These days, Stefanie uses her writing and teaching skills to help students master the art of producing music. Students love her clear and engaging style, her approachable and well-structured lessons, and her knack for breaking down incredibly complex concepts so they’re easy to understand.

Stefanie teaches online courses through her school, Sequence One. She occasionally offers group workshops and classes in the Bay Area.
